History

The club was created by Access Sport as a part of the BMX Olympic legacy project.

Access Sport’s BMX Legacy Project was launched in February 2011 and has created five new model BMX clubs and built five new BMX tracks in the Olympic host boroughs.

Up until September 2012 the club was operating without access to its own BMX track. Regardless, the club volunteers met every Saturday in Mile End Park and rode over 2 miles up the canal to ride at the Haggerston Park BMX track in Hackney.

Since then the club has expanded rapidly with the club running an incredible variety of regular sessions. Operating from the track in Mile End up to 10 times per week, Tower Hamlets BMX provides opportunities to various under-represented groups in the local community, catering for all levels of ability and a broad demographic, the club welcomed riders from the age of 5 up to adults.
